Immerse yourself in Indigenous culture

In addition to gaining a practical and theoretical understanding of the forces affecting American Indian communities across the U.S., we encourage our students to explore Indigenous lives in a global context by studying abroad. Learning abroad can help you gain an appreciation and raised awareness of the history, culture, philosophy, religion and legal status of Indigenous people from different areas of the world. You’ll be able to challenge assumptions made in the classroom by immersing yourself in the culture firsthand.

What you’ll learn by studying abroad:

  • a comprehensive understanding of Indigenous experiences around the world
  • analytical and critical thinking skills to solve issues facing diverse communities
  • new cultural and national perspectives
  • real-world expertise in cultural diversity and minority perceptions
